The US has received new information on Russian military capabilities regarding a nuclear anti-satellite system in space.

The intelligence was presented to Congress and key US allies, with some lawmakers arguing for declassification and public disclosure. 

Despite concerns, high-ranking members of Congress have stated that the intelligence does not pose an imminent threat to the US or its interests.

The presence of an orbital anti-satellite system, regardless of its armament, would represent a heightened level of danger to the system.
