Jack Black, who played Bowser in "The Super Mario Bros.", will join Jason Momoa in the Minecraft movie.

Warner Bros./Vertigo/Legendary is set to begin production on a film adaptation of Mojang/Microsoft's Minecraft.

Jack Black will portray Steve in the film, alongside Emma Myers, Danielle Brooks, and Sebastian Eugene Hansen. 

The film is produced by Vertigo, Legendary, Mojang/Microsoft, and On the Roam Films, which is owned by Momoa. 

The film has a record of being the highest-selling video game in history, with 300 million copies sold and 140 million monthly active users. 

Black has previously starred in the successful 2023 film "The Super Mario Bros. Movie," earning him a Golden Globe nomination. 

With his voice acting in Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight, he was just awarded an Emmy for his remarkable performance.

Black stars in Lionsgate's Borderlands film, Tenacious D and the Spicy Meatball Tour, and received a Grammy for best heavy metal cover in 2015.
