Sadly, Suhani Bhatnagar, a Dangal actress who was just 19 years old, passed away due to dermatomyositis, an extremely uncommon inflammatory disorder.

The condition was diagnosed just 10 days ago, and Bhatnagar was hospitalized at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences.

Dr. Shweta Singhai, Senior Consultant, Rheumatology at Sakra World Hospital, suggests viral, bacterial, vaccination, and environmental causes.

It's also linked to underlying cancer in 30-40% of individuals, especially those experiencing weight loss.

Dermatomyositis leads to muscular weakness and a unique skin rash, with the muscles in the shoulders, upper arms, hips, thighs, and neck exhibiting the greatest weakness.

Medication, physical therapy, exercise, heat therapy, and rest are all components of treatment for this condition, as there is currently no cure available.

Conditions that are not treated can have an effect on the muscles that are responsible for swallowing and breathing, and they require immediate attention.
