Tiger Woods’ return to The Genesis Invitational at Riviera Country Club has boosted his confidence in the PGA Tour, despite ongoing challenges.

Tiger Woods, a prominent golfer, is currently fulfilling multiple roles at the Genesis Invitational and has been actively engaged in negotiations with Strategic Sports Group (SSG), a company supported by the Fenway Sports Group. The Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia (PIF), which is the financial supporter of LIV Golf, is uncertain about the implications for the PGA Tour. Tiger Woods expressed his desire to incorporate PIF into the tour and product during his statement at Riviera on Wednesday.

A division exists between the PGA and the LIV franchises, with prominent athletes opting to depart from the PGA in favor of the LIV franchises, enticed by substantial financial compensation amounting to hundreds of millions of pounds in salaries and winnings. There were indications of a reconciliation between the two organizations, with the PGA reaching a $3 billion (£2.39bn) agreement with Strategy Sports Group (SSG), a company supported by the Fenway Sports Group. However, the deal would be open to involvement for the PIF, but that has not yet been approved.

Jordan Spieth, another prominent figure, expressed that a deal with the PIF was unnecessary. The agreement with SSG grants players substantial ownership shares, partially addressing the monetary compensation provided by LIV. Tiger Woods concurred, stating that “in the end, we aspire to include PIF in our tour and incorporate it into our product.” Currently, they find themselves in an advantageous position.
