Gipsy Rose Blanchard, who was convicted for her involvement in her mother’s murder, is set to be released from prison.

Gipsy Rose Blanchard, who notoriously planned to end her mother’s life, is set to be released from prison on Thursday after completing over seven years in confinement.

The individual, now 32 years old, received a 10-year prison sentence in July 2016. This came after they admitted to second-degree murder in the unfortunate demise of their mother, Clauddine “Dee Dee” Blanchard. Nicholas Godejohn, Gypsy’s ex-boyfriend, has been sentenced to life in prison for the tragic stabbing of Dee Dee.

For those unfamiliar with the case that served as the inspiration for the Hulu series “The Act,” some experts argue that Gipsy was a victim of Munchausen syndrome by proxy. This condition involves a parent, guardian, or caretaker fabricating symptoms to make it appear as though their child is ill.

Police said they detained a man carrying a knife and a machete outside the United States Capitol.
During her early years, Gipsy had to rely on a wheelchair and endure unnecessary medical procedures. According to attorneys, Dee Dee started making false medical diagnoses for Gipsy shortly after her birth in 1991. She initially claimed that the infant had sleep apnea.

At the age of 8, Gypsy’s mother, Dee Dee, started asserting that she had developed more severe medical conditions such as leukaemia and muscular dystrophy. These conditions supposedly necessitated the use of a wheelchair and a feeding tube.

Following Dee Dee’s claim that Hurricane Katrina, which left New Orleans in ruins, had an impact on her and her daughter, the couple moved from Louisiana to Aurora, Missouri, in September 2005. Additionally, she mentioned that the medical records of Gipsy were lost during the storm.

Gipsy and Dee Dee were completely overwhelmed by the incredible support they received, which included generous charity trips and sizeable financial contributions. Habitat for Humanity constructed a residence in Springfield, Missouri, equipped with convenient accessibility features such as a wheelchair ramp.

According to prosecutors, Gipsy set up a plan in June 2015 for Nicholas Godejohn, whom she had met on a Christian dating site, to travel to Springfield and commit the murder of her mother.

Gipsy mentioned that Godejohn visited Dee Dee’s residence, where she provided him with gloves, a knife, and duct tape. Prosecutors revealed that Godejohn entered Dee Dee’s bedroom and stabbed her 17 times as she sought refuge in the bathroom. Following the murder, Gipsy and Godejohn quickly returned to his residence in Wisconsin, where they were apprehended a few days later.

An Illinois father took action to protect his daughter, shooting a man who was accused of harming her, according to the police. The accused, Gipsy, managed to avoid trial by accepting a plea deal, but she did provide testimony during Godejohn’s trial. She asserted that she was the one who proposed the plan to end her mother’s life and that her connection with Godejohn was concealed due to Dee Dee’s complete control over every aspect of her existence.

According to her, she discovered at the age of 19 that she was not actually ill. However, it was only after her arrest that she truly grasped the severity of her health condition.

During the trial, Godejohn’s defence presented the argument that his actions were driven by a desire to protect Gipsy from the abuse she was enduring. He also mentioned that he was deeply infatuated with Gipsy.

Gipsy will be freed early on December 28 after serving 85 percent of her 10-year prison sentence, according to the Missouri Department of Corrections, which provided the information. She has an upcoming ebook called “Released: Conversations on the Eve of Freedom” scheduled for release on January 9, 2024.
